Lark Hill sporting complex on track . . .
Work on the development of a new state-of-the-art
recreation and sporting complex at Lark Hill is on track
with completion of the earthworks, reticulation and
installation of over 14 hectares of instant turf for use
by sporting groups such as rugby league, rugby union,
soccer, cricket, softball and hockey.
Significantly, works are also being undertaken to run
water from the Port Kennedy area to irrigate the Lark
Hill complex. This will have an added benefit of
alleviating the rising water table in Port Kennedy and
providing a readily available source of water to
irrigate Lark Hill.
When completed, Lark Hill will occupy over 270
hectares of land and will boast a thoroughbred racing
complex and major recreation facilities to a regional
and state level.
City of
Rockingham Manager of Capital Works Gary Rogers said
that Lark Hill’s sporting facilities would also include
a multi purpose synthetic pitch as well as extensive
outdoor playing areas and social facilities.
“In addition
to the sporting facilities, Lark Hill will also include
walk trails and viewing platforms throughout the
conservation and heritage listed areas within the site,
providing interpretative signage and historical
information about the site,” Mr Rogers said.
